Spring buds

I couldn't help myself, I saw these trimmings of our plum tree laying on the ground from last week's prunning and even though they are cut off from the tree, the branches are still getting ready to bloom! So, they now reside in this vase so I can enjoy the blossoms when they break. That may not be very long now as it's been very warm lately, fifties.
Today we also planted two new saplings, both are Asian pears. Hosui and Shinseiki varieties. We already have one Asian pear which is a grafted tree that has multiple varieties on it, so is self pollinating. I am sure our honeybees will appreciate two new flowering trees!
Last week (Feb 6th) I sowed a packet of Golden Seal Burley tobacco seeds, mostly so I could do a video for my tobacco customers, but also because I love to grow things! Today (14th) I counted over fifty baby plants that have sprouted so far. I have a new facebook page that is exclusively devoted to tobacco growing. In the space of a week, I already have a few new members and questions! So, click on the excerpt below and the link will take you to facebook. If you are a facebook member, just sign in and you will be taken directly to that page. If you are not a member, consider signing up. It's free and with the new security enhancements, it is as private as you want it to be.

Happy Valentines Day everyone!
