Farmville newbies, How to make the most profit out of your fields.
I've been doing some "figuring" and I am finding that crops that take longer than 48 hours are not worth planting unless you are going for the "Green Thumb" ribbon. I pulled out my calculator (I know, there's calcs out there on the web but I like to do my own) and here's how I did it. I took the harvest profit and subtracted the cost of the seed PLUS the plot plowed fee of 15 coin so that I actually have a true net profit in my FV bank account.
For the newbie starting out, I recommend strawberries (2.5 coins earned per hour), soybeans, squash (1.37 coins earned per hour) and pumpkins (a whopping 2.87 coins earned per hour!)
What about wheat and artichokes you say? Afterall, wheat nets you 115 coins without spending a lot of coin cash out of your pocket (35 coin + 15 coin). It looks good until you divid the profit by the number of hours that your wheat in in the "ground". Wheat nets you only 0.90 coins per hour and artichokes net you only 1.23 coins per hour. So plant your farm fields with the highest profit crop you can afford. You'll be glad you did!
For flowers, lower level players will do well with daffodils @ 2.50 coins per hour, tulips will net you 2.87 coin, roses a disappointing 2.47 coin and sunflowers (level 26- 6.87 coin per hour. Nice!
So should you plant pineapples (95 coin + 15 coin= 105 coin) with a profit of 242 in two days OR grapes (85 coin + 15 coin= 100) with a profit of 270 in 1 day? Easy! Your net profit for the pineapple per hour is 5.5 coins (not bad) but your net profit for grapes per hour is 7.08! But remember, that is a one day crop vs a two day crop. So your grapes can actually net you over 14 coins in the same plot in two days. Lovin it!
Frankly, for me at level 24, my best bet for 24 hour crop is still grapes (7.08 coin per hour) even though I now have sunflowers available (6.87 coin per hour). My highest profit plant during the day if I am at home, is tomatoes @ 7.25 coin per hour! It just depends on how much time I want to put into it.
Final point is Don't stress out over the XPs. I know, you want them and they come really slow as you gain levels and ribbons, but remember, if you absolutely must have them, you can purchase them! That is how the company makes money. Frankly the $5 I spent on Seeds for Haiti was Sooo worth it!
You can buy most everything you need with coin. So have fun!
