Snow in the East, Spring in the West

While my dear friends are being inundated with lots and lots of snow in the East, we are enjoying a rare warm spring day! I want to share with you this photo of my first blooming plants for 2010, a weeping willow. We even had blue sky today and it was warm enough for the first plowing of the garden and pruning back of my roses and jasmine vines.
I sure you can appreciate what a joy it was to be outside again and doing some rudimentary gardening!
The forsythia buds are swelling and will soon be in bloom too. I even noticed japanese iris starting to poke up their leaves above ground.
 Yeah for spring!
Looks like we need a new battery for the rider mower, so I "got" out of the first mowing. Looks like we need to do some serious liming as the moss is rampant this year in the grass.
Must have a good supply of earthworms as the moles are very busy digging tunnels and hills while our dauchshund is staunchly trying to dig them up!
Enjoy the Super Bowl everyone, go Saints!
